Tree roots are the most common cause of heaving, but frost, poor drainage, and soil settlement also play a role. Iowa's freeze-thaw cycles cause the ground to expand and contract, which can push slabs upward or cause them to sink over time. We address the cause where possible before pouring new sections.

We do our best to match existing broom finish direction and texture, but some variation is expected between old and new concrete. Color in particular will differ until the new section weathers. For most situations the match is close enough that it's not noticeable after a season or two.
